Growing up in South Town with no money was no easy way to live, but as was life.At nine years old, Marie's younger brother Kain was born, and tragically a year later, she lost both her parents to sudden sickness, being unable to afford the medical care required for them both. Terrified of being sent into the foster system and her brother being separated from her, Marie took Kain and ran.Street children, Marie tried her best to raise her brother, hardly out of infancy, and to protect the both of them from the dangers of South Town, she eventually met Abel Cameron, befriending the man, who grew close to her and Kain, protecting the siblings.Years passed, and when she was barely a woman, she met Geese Howard, the CEO of the Howard Connection; the man who seemed to strive to make South Town a safer place, who promised to protect those who lived there.Utterly smitten by the man, with the attraction being somewhat a mutual one, Marie soon enough was wed to Geese.

One would imagine Marie's tragic life would blossom into that of a fairy tale ideal, married into wealth, finally able to sleep in a warm bed with a full stomach. She imagined so too.Already certain that she would be able to go fetch her brother and welcome him to her new home, Marie had been brimming with excitement for this new chapter of her life...And then the book was slammed shut on her fingers.Considered an image of weakness to Geese and his reputation among his underground work, Marie wasn't permitted to live with her husband, instead sent to a designated apartment, hidden away. Far from her princess fantasies, but a home was still a home. She understood her husband's intention, and held no ill will to him for his decisions. Still sure she could go find her brother and at least provide him refuge in her apartment, Marie took this with stride.And then she found out she was pregnant.Having to prioritise her child, Marie had to tearfully end her plans to help her brother, knowing that he'd be under good care with Abel by his side. Soon enough, she gave birth to a little boy, a son whom she named Rock.She raised her son alone, but this was no new life to her. The two lived humbly and did what they could to get by... And yet history kept tragically repeating itself as Marie fell severely ill.She pleaded with her son to just stay put, to not contact his father and to just stay home, that she would get well soon enough... But he wouldn't listen. Rock ran to his father, meeting Geese for the first time to beg for him to come to Marie, to help her.And he refused.

✶ I love all types of genres! Angst, fluff, comedy, serious, crack... Anything goes!! (Although I am absolute sucker for drama and romance with angst sprinkled in there!)
